Portable Appliance (PAT) Testing

Portable appliance testing (PAT) is the testing of electrical appliances and equipment to ensure they are safe to use. Most defective electrical appliances can be identified by visual examination but certain defects can only be detected by PAT testing. Visual examination is also a part of the PAT testing process as some types of electrical safety defect can't be detected by testing alone.

SAFE APPLIANCES IN THE WORKPLACE

Ensuring electrical equipment is safe in the workplace will help protect your employees and property from accidents caused by defective electrical appliances.

The Electricity at Work Regulations 1989 require that any electrical equipment that has the potential to cause injury is maintained in a safe condition.

The frequency of inspection and testing depends upon the type of equipment and the environment it is used in. Frequently used electrical equipment such as power tools should be examined more frequently than appliances that are used less often such as table lamps in a hotel.

We will thoroughly test all of your electrical appliances. Identifying any potentially unsafe or defective equipment. We clearly label each piece of tested equipment with the date we tested - this helps you keep track of what has been tested and by whom.
